BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT TO HELP LOCAL YOUTH WITH ANTI-BULLYING INITIATIVE
PROVO, Utah – July 23, 2013 –FirstDigital, a leading Utah telecommunications provider, is sponsoring the Fredette Family Foundation 3-on-3 Tournament to End Bullying on Thursday, Aug. 1. In addition to getting local kids involved in mentoring and sports programs, the tournament raises money to support the Provo School District and Provo City Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund.
“FirstDigital is really passionate about being a supporter of our community, so the tournament seemed like a great way for us to get involved,” said FirstDigital CEO Drew Peterson. “Bullying has become a serious problem across the country and this is one way for us to help fight that right here in Provo.”
The Fredette Family Foundation, started by local basketball star, Jimmer Fredette, works to strengthen families by supporting kids ages eight to 18. The 3-on-3 tournament helps achieve that by providing a way for local kids to work with strong role models in a safe and fun environment.
The 3-on-3 tournament is being held Aug. 1 at the Provo Recreation Center at 320 W. 500 North. For more information about the tournament or to sign up, visit sports.provo.org or call (801) 852-6600.
“We’re very happy that FirstDigital is getting involved in the Tournament to End Bullying,” said Foundation President and CEO Blair Giles. “It means a lot to see local companies reaching out to help kids in our area and help us build up the community.”
FirstDigital is also sponsoring the Share Your Jimmerosity Golf Invitational on September 6. The golf tournament will help the Fredette Family Foundation raise money for programs to give local kids and teens a safe, happy way to work with role models and develop strong character. The Share Your Jimmerosity Golf Invitational is being held at Riverside Country Club in Provo.
